Growth Opportunities and Life Skills

"The fact is that given the challenges we face, education doesn't need to be reformed -- it needs to be transformed. The key to this transformation is not to standardize education, but to personalize it, to build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can naturally discover their true passions."
― Ken Robinson, The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything

Introduction
GOALS as an acronym stands for Growth Opportunities and Life Skills and represents our commitment to reinvigorating our students aspirations as they move through their final years of education and onto their future destinations.

The conceptual motivation for the programme is based upon 'Finding your element' written by the inspirational Ken Robinson, whose handprints are permanently enshrined in the entrance to our school.  Six hours per week are protected within the timetable for students to explore the talents that lie within them as well as discovering the talents that they were unaware that they possessed.

G.O.A.L.S curriculum hours are split into two, three hour slots: Options and Free to Choose.

Options: Options is 3 x 1 hour slots aimed to build upon student talents to gain a recognised formal  qualification.
Free to Choose: 1 x 3 hour slot aimed to allow students to explore their talents in 3 x 12 week blocks of learning.
