Everton Free School Pledge To Safeguarding

Our Pledge

Our school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting children’s welfare and expects all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment and maintain a vigilant and safe environment.

Everyone has a responsibility to act, without delay, to protect children by reporting anything that might suggest a child is being abused or neglected. It is our willingness to work safely and challenge inappropriate behaviours that underpins this commitment. Our school seeks to work in partnership with families and other agencies to improve the outcomes for children who are vulnerable or in need.

Safeguarding Support and Advice

Early Help

Early Help provides support to children, young people, and families as soon as difficulties emerge. Its purpose is to prevent concerns from escalating by offering timely, coordinated support from a range of services and professionals.

At Everton Free School, our Family Support Workers are available to guide and support families in accessing appropriate Early Help services. If you feel you or your child may benefit from additional support, please contact the school directly.

Reporting Concerns in School

SHARP System
The SHARP System allows students to report safeguarding concerns directly to staff, including anonymously if they wish. This ensures that all students can raise concerns in a way that feels safe and accessible, without fear or anxiety.

Operation Encompass

Our School is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse and other issues that may impact upon their wellbeing.

Our police force will now share details about children who are missing from home with us that we can appropriately understand and support their needs when they return.

As a school we have ensured that a member of our staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
