At Everton Free School, Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) is a core part of our curriculum. It inspires students with hope and ambition while equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed in their future careers.

Our Careers Education programme is delivered across Years 9 to 11, ensuring that all students have access to a wide range of realistic and engaging opportunities throughout their time at school. These experiences are designed to help students explore their interests, develop their potential, and make informed choices about their next steps.

How You Can Support Our Students

We actively welcome support from employers and community partners who wish to make a positive impact on young people’s futures. Opportunities include:

  • Guest speaker talks and presentations
  • Delivery of small parts of curriculum content
  • Development of curriculum resources and lesson plans
  • Workplace visits and hands-on workshops
  • Work experience and volunteering placements
  • Apprenticeships and traineeships guidance
  • Support for pupils in Looked After Care and those with EHCPs
  • Representation at parents’ evenings and careers fairs
  • Mock interviews and interview preparation

Labour Market Information (LMI) & Parental Support

Understanding Labour Market Information

Labour Market Information (LMI) is a valuable resource that helps students and families research future job opportunities, understand the skills required for different roles, and explore the demand for employment locally, nationally, and internationally.

LMI breaks down the often complex “world of work,” providing insights into:

  • Career descriptions and entry routes
  • Promotional prospects and salaries
  • Skills and qualifications required
  • Future job demand and emerging industries

Access to accurate LMI is crucial for young people, particularly as new industries emerge and many of the most important jobs of the future do not yet exist. As Anne Milton MP notes:

“It is vital, in an environment where new industries are emerging and many of the most important jobs of the future don’t yet exist, that individuals have access to high-quality labour market information and earnings data to underpin their choices.”

Each student receives:

  • One-to-one Careers Information, Advice & Guidance (CIAG) interviews
  • Teachers linking curriculum learning to careers
  • Opportunities for work experience, college encounters, and apprenticeship provider interactions
